Plain version: running a test does not create a record of you. This page says exactly what does happen.

What a test involves

When you run a test, your browser asks our server whether a channel is live. That request carries the channel name and, as with any web request, your IP address. The channel's public information is cached on our server for under a minute so that repeated tests do not hammer Twitch. Your IP address is used only for a short-lived rate-limit counter and is not kept as a record of who tested what.

The measurements themselves never leave your browser. Delay, frame rate, dropped frames, resolution and buffer are read from the Twitch player on your own device and are used to draw the page you are looking at. They are not sent to us and not stored.

Twitch

The test embeds Twitch's own player, so your browser talks to Twitch directly and Twitch may set cookies and receive information as it would if you had opened twitch.tv. That relationship is between you and Twitch, and their privacy policy governs it.

If you connect a Twitch account

Twitch login is not live yet. When it is, these rules apply and this page will be updated with the specifics before it launches:

• Access tokens are never exposed to the browser, and are encrypted where stored.
• Only the permissions a feature genuinely needs are requested, at the point it is needed.
• You can disconnect Twitch at any time.
• You can delete saved test history at any time, and it is deleted rather than hidden.
• Relationship information is fetched fresh when you look at it, rather than shown indefinitely as current after it may have changed.
• Anything ViewerVitals calculated is labelled separately from anything Twitch returned.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages get used and which break. It sets cookies and records page views, approximate location and device type. It is not used to build a profile of you, and we do not sell anything to anyone.

Advertising

This site carries advertising, which is what keeps the test free and open to people without accounts. Ads are served by Google, which uses cookies to serve and measure them. You can review and change how Google personalises advertising to you at myadcenter.google.com, and opt out of personalised advertising from participating vendors at optout.aboutads.info.

The site is built to remain fully usable with every ad blocked. Nothing about the test is withheld behind an advertisement.

Children

ViewerVitals is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
